Happy Birthday Spike!

Here he is in the morning, opening more presents than he probably should have . *wink*A Batmobile, of course.
A Spiderman head filled with tiny legos he had been begging us for.
Here is the blue cake with chocolate frosting. One of my best, I think!
This is the one picture where you can see evryone who came. Left to right: Delaney, Sullivan, Hella, Damien, Boris, and the birthday boy himself dutifully licking the candles clean!

Look at the Beehive Boy!

Don't let the look on his face fool you, he's happy!

He literally walked around all day smiling!
I thought he was going to burst!

The playdough table was by far his favorite, he kept coming back to it.
I can't believe my little Spike is going to school, it all feels so unreal.

Old and New

Hmmm... do I want to take that from her? Or should I just wait til she drops it?
Yeah, my shirt rocks, but not as much as ME! (hi Josh!)
Even though I had to wear this silly protective water gear, I still had fun!

THE DANGERS OF TOURISM IN THE RETRO FUTURE

The red-winged space-harpies of Calcyon IX are fearsome foes.

As if it wasn't enough that their talons can rend right through the hull of an unwary rocketship, they also carry scimitars forged in the acid volcanoes dotting their homeworld.

But have no fear hardy traveler, galactic-steam-adventurer

SPIKE SPEED
(THE BOY OF A THOUSAND WISHES)
is on the job, and your travels to (and through) this area are well guarded!

Water Babies

Spike was awesome and fearless. He even had no problem peeing in the ocean...hey! the fish do it! (hee hee)
Yay! Aunt Anika was here to share in the festivities! The kids fell madly in love with her right away. Especially Spike, which, if you know him, is unusual. He is very shy when he first meets someone, but he knew from the start that she was awesome!
Come back Aunt Nika! We miss you!

Whoo hoo!

You said there was going to be ducks!

You shouldn't tease a 2 1/2 year old, it just isn't right.

Daddy! The water's cold!

Look at my big muscles!

See?

SPIKE PLAYS BY NO RULES BUT HIS OWN

Lately, Spike has been turning into Spider-Man at the most unexpected times, and in the most unexpected ways.

Here's that old webslinger in action...

That Age

Luckily for Spike, he is at that age where everywhere Boris goes, he manages to go too (sorry guys, it won't last forever).

Today, you guessed it, petting zoo!

I'm allowed to ride these things, right?

Blueberries be gone!

Even though he likes fruit, and eats blueberry muffins all the time, and loves pancakes, he does not like blueberries.

Therefore, each and every blueberry was removed from the pancake before it could be eaten.

Thank you Spike.

San Antonio or Bust!

It's really easy to forget how young Spike is because he says so much to you and has so much to say. However, he is only 2 1/2 years old and is constantly stopping to pick up little things, like rocks!

Here is Spike showing Rik his rock.

He brought it all the way home.

Here is that classic family picture, posed nicely right in front of The Alamo.

This is The Tower of the Americas. We didn't know it was closed until we got there.

Cheesy photo op!

There was a giant plaster T-Rex right outside of the Cascade Caverns that the boys ran right over to.

Spike found a stick while playing here that also made the trip home. He was laying down in the van almost asleep when Rik and I hear a squeaky voice say "Where's my stick?"

There really is only one Spike.

MONSTER FARM

We were having a good time as we drove home tonight...singing songs, talking, doing that quality family-time thing.

Singing "Old MacDonald", we were taking turns calling out which animal to do in each verse...

We went through the usuals...horse, dog, cow, duck, etc.

Then it was Spike's turn to pick...he picked King Kong, The Hulk and The Thing.

X-RAY VISION

So, sitting in a fancy new Burger King, eating some fries, Spike notices the big flat-screen TV high up on the wall.

None other than George W Bush is on the screen, murmuring away in that patronizing way of his.

Spike asks me if that is the news on the TV.

I tell him yes, and to remember that guy on there, because he is a bad guy.

Spike wants to know what he does.

I tell him that the guy is just a bad guy and does lots of bad stuff.

He stares at the screen for a couple of minutes, watching Bush wave his hands and smirk.

Then Spike tells me he's a bad guy because his face comes off and there is a robot underneath.

SCHOLAR AT WORK

Spike putting the final touches on his response to the Eichmann Law of Universal Uncertainty.

The ELUU states, of course, that "no predictable outcome will ever follow any set order of things, even if said things are identical in all measurable ways".

Spike's response, the Statement of Speed Superiority and Unshakable Faith, denounces that claim.

The SSSUF postulates that "the good guys always win".

The SSSUF will be published simultaneously in the upcoming Journal of Scientific Advancement (Spring 2006 volume), the New Yorker (April 2006 issue) and independently by Spike's own vanity press, All-Consuming Eye Books (initial run of 500 signed and numbered hardcovers, June 2006 release date).
